Factoid
I am counting up the numbers inside the 10 for each team, and I can’t help but be impressed by New England’s rookie tight ends – both of them. Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez were two of the most effect pass catchers in the league in that part of the field.
When the Patriots were inside the 10, Tom Brady passed for Gronkowski 10 times, and he caught 9 of those passes, including 7 TDs. With Hernandez, he went 6 of 7, with 6 TDs. So overall in that part of the field, Brady went 15 of 17 passing with 13 TDs. That was a big part of his huge touchdown haul, and probably played a role in the Patriots being comfortable dumping Randy Moss.
Below is the list showing all receivers who caught at least 70 percent of the balls thrown their way in that part of the field (at least among those with at least 6 attempts).
RECEIVING INSIDE THE 10 -- 2010
Players who caught at least 70 percent of the passes thrown their way inside the 10 yard line in the 2010. Stats include attempts (No), receptions, percentage and touchdowns.
These aren't official NFL stats -- they are numbers were tabulated on our own; so they included 2-point conversion attempts. Roddy White caught 2 2-point conversions, while Witten and Gresham had one each. Those are shown as touchdowns.
