Around the NFL
Owen Daniels has been plagued by injuries the last two years, but the Texans are confident he’ll be back and productive. They signed him to a four-year contract worth $22 million today.
It’s a solid move, in my opinion, and I think Daniels has a very good chance to be a top-10 tight end this year. Without having all the names and stats in front of me, I’m guessing Daniels will about the No. 8 tight end on my board this year. Slightly higher in leagues weighted towards catches and yards; slightly lower in a TD-only format.
Daniels was on pace to lead all tight ends in receptions two years ago when he tore his ACL halfway through the season. He wasn’t the same last year and missed five games with a hamstring injury that I believe was related to the knee injury.
The Texans placed a first-rounder tender on Daniels on Wednesday.
