Bengals: extremes in FG accuracy

Posted Jun. 09 at 03:45 AM

The Bengals made the decision last year not to re-sign Shayne Graham, going instead with former Ohio State kicker Mike Nugent. A year removed, that decision is looking iffy at best.

Graham choked on a couple of big misses in a playoff loss against the Jets, greasing the skids for his exit, but he’s generally been very reliable. He hit all 12 of his field goals for New England last year after replacing Stephen Gostkowski at midseason. Since 2007, he’s been the league’s most accurate field goal kicker.

Nugent, meanwhile, has been the least accurate kicker in the league over the last four years.

Graham is now a free agent, and you’ve got to figure he’ll get some attention from teams looking to upgrade the position.
