Around the NFL
One thing is clear with Cam Newton's future: It's not going to lack for publicity. The team that drafts him really won't just be drafting a quarterback, they'll be drafting his entire family.
Following Auburn's Pro Day, NFL.com analyst Gil Brandt came away impressed enough to reiterate his belief that Newton should definitely be the draft's No. 1 pick. Perhaps that endorsement warmed up Newton's father enough to tell Brandt that eight teams have private workouts scheduled with him, including the obviously quarterback-needy Panthers, Bills, Vikings and Titans.
A lot of Pro Days are taking place right now; another NFL.com writer, Mike Mayock, was at Alabama running back Mark Ingram's. "I have two words to describe him," Mayock says. "Powerful and explosive."
It's early, and it will depend where players end up, but the safe guess right now is that Newton and Ingram, in some order, will be the top two picks in most rookie-only dynasty drafts this spring.
