The value of a potential breakout fantasy player in 2008 took a substantial hit today, while two franchise players picked up some leverage.
Turn your attention to Cincinnati, where Chad Johnson wants out and T.J. Houshmandzadeh wants a new contract. With those guys complaining, I’ve had my eye on Chris Henry as a potential star in 2008.
Henry is a knucklehead, but he’s got the talent to be a No. 1 receiver, and he could put up huge numbers if he winds up moving into the starting lineup.
But look what happened today, as reported by the folks at www.local12.com.
An 18-year-old is charging that Henry assaulted him, punching him in the face and breaking his car windshield. The police report indicates Henry was involved in a fight.
Not good news for a guy who was suspended for eight games last season. It’s early, and we’ll see how this thing unfolds, but Henry could wind up being hit with a league suspension. And considering that the league office grew tired of Henry long ago, it could be a suspension of the longer variety – four, eight or even more games.
Henry, ironically, was a teammate of Pacman Jones at West Virginia.
