Around the NFL
Since announcing they'd trade or release Vince Young after last season, the Titans also parted ways with Young's biggest apparent critic, coach Jeff Fisher. That, coupled with the lack of free agency, had some speculating the Titans might bring Young back.
Nope, says new coach Mike Munchak. "That was a decision made months ago and nothing that is going to happen personnel-wise, or how the draft goes, is going to change that,’’ he says.
So Young will still be with another team, and the Titans will likely be going with a lesser-talented passer (depending on how the draft and free agency, whenever it happens, go). The other options include 38-year-old free agent Kerry Collins and third-stringer Rusty Smith, who completed 24 passes of his 40 passes last year -- 20 to teammates, 4 to opponents.
Young will land somewhere, and although he'd apparently burned too many bridges in Tennessee to return, odds are he'll ultimately give that new team a better chance to win, and perhaps a better fantasy quarterback, than the Titans will put forth.
