Vernon Davis is the fastest tight end in the league. The fastest ever, probably. And the 49ers do a good job of getting him downfield.
Look at his numbers from last year. He averaged 16.3 yards per catch. That’s more than any other tight end in the previous 10 years. And he did it with Alex Smith at quarterback for most of the year.
Below is the list showing all the tight ends (and there aren’t many) who have been able to average 13.0 yards per catch since 2000.
