Around the NFL
The Bengals had made re-signing free agent Cedric Benson one of their top priorities once the lockout ends. It might be a little easier now than it would have been a few days ago.
According to various news sources, Benson has been arrested and jailed after being charged with assault on a family member. Considering he's already awaiting a trial for an incident at a bar a year ago, this latest incident could lead to a suspension (assuming he doesn't actually go to jail).
It certainly won't make Benson more attractive on the free agent market, either. It probably increases the odds of him returning to Cincinnati, given that the Bengals have tended to ignore off-field incidents with players in the past. Tank Johnson and Pacman Jones leap to mind as other players who have received second or third chances with the Bengals.
There aren't a lot of details on the incident yet, so maybe it will turn out to be minor, and Benson won't face jail time. But a league suspension, depending on how things shake out regarding player actions during the lockout, is possible. And Benson likely cost himself a lot of money, and interested teams, with this apparent misstep.

The lockout needs to end quickly so that we can get all of these criminals off the streets.
