Fantasy News
You may have seen the blurb a few weeks back about the "Fantasy Index Open". I invited readers to submit their top 20 at each position - with a chance to win a spot in the 2012 Experts Poll in the magazine.
I did it on short notice, and readers were held to the same deadline as the regular experts in the magazine. Picks had to be in before the start of the first preseason game.
Thirty six readers, with about a day of notice, took the time to put together lists, and the compiled numbers appear below. So this is kind of a mock draft - it gives you a general idea of where guys might be selected at their position.
At quarterback, for example, notice that Matt Schaub is coming in ahead of Ben Roethlisberger, and Matthew Stafford is coming in ahead of Joe Flacco, Jay Cutler, Sam Bradford, Matt Cassel and Kevin Kolb on most boards.
The numbers below indicate the averages of the readers. A few players, I'm sure, will have moved since the start of the preseason. Peyton Manning would fall a little. Tim Hightower likely would be on lists.
For the scoring below, if a readers placed first on every list, he would show at 100%. If everyone graded him 2nd, he would show at 95%. If the player showed at 3rd on each ballot, he would be listed at 90%, and so on.

thanks for the info...im one of the 36...I was wondering if you were going to have the fantasy index fantasy league this year? I sure hope so...im really looking forward to it!

I'm in it as well , as the lone Canadian I believe. It was short notice for sure but it was fun to do. I sure hope the super league will be back this year as well. I finished 12th last year but hope to bring home the trophy this year. Wouldn't it be something for someone to win both the super league and the index open ......

yes, that would be something if someone won both...the super league was very competitive last year...15th was about the highest i got last year and finished around 20th...Smashmouth55

Hmmm. My picks look very similar to the consensus of the other 35 entrants. Hard to have a good shot at winning the contest if I don't have significant differences from the masses. 4 months to find out!
