Around the NFL
When the Panthers brought back DeAngelo Williams as a free agent, the players most hurt by it seemed to be Jonathan Stewart and Mike Goodson; their chances at larger roles were reduced. Things got even worse today for Tyrell Sutton.
Carolina has released its fourth-string running back, and while such cuts generally aren't a big deal, in this case it might be -- at least, for another team. Sutton can play; in very limited chances he averaged over 5.5 yards per carry the last two seasons, while also catching 18 passes. With good speed and good hands, he should fit in as a third-down back for some team immediately.
Nice possible landing spots for Sutton could include Arizona, Tampa Bay, St. Louis, and Jacksonville -- depending on the severity of Rashad Jennings' knee injury -- among others. Somebody will give him a chance, more of one than he got in Carolina.
