Around the NFL
Charles Chandler of the Charlotte Observer looks at the pros and cons of the Carolina Panthers potentially selecting a big running back with the 13th pick of the draft.
Chandler doesn’t say that it’s likely the Panthers will select a runner in that spot – and he’s talking about Rashard Mendenhall or Jonathan Stewart – but he says it’s at least possible. That player would then share time with DeAngelo Williams, a smaller, quicker back.
Chandler says that Carolina most likely will select an offensive tackle in the first round.
The article points out that while Darren McFadden is considered the No. 1 running back prospect in most people’s eyes, there are some that disagree. Mike Mayock of the NFL Network, for example, has Mendenhall as the No. 1 running back. And Pro Football Weekly gives the nod to Jonathan Stewart.
