Factoid
Ryan Mathews did some unusual on Sunday. He ran for 137 yards against the Broncos without scoring. Again.
Mathews, recall, ran for 125 yards at Denver earlier in the year. He didn’t score in that game.
This doesn’t happen often. It’s been 9 years, in fact, since a running back went for 120-plus rushing yards in both games against an opponent without winding up in the end zone at some point along the way. That was Michael Bennett against the Packers.
Barry Sanders is the all-time kind in this category. He did it in back-to-back seasons in the mid-‘90s. Against Tampa Bay in 1994, Sanders famously ran for 401 yards in two games without scoring.
Mostly famous runners on this list.
