Around the NFL
With two first-round picks, the Cowboys will be big players in the upcoming draft. They could package those picks and move up in the draft. They could select two players. Or they could trade one of those picks for a veteran receiver.
In Calvin Watkins' article in today’s edition The Dallas Morning News, Jerry Jones says he would consider trading away one of those picks for a receiver such as Chad Johnson, Roy Williams or Anquan Boldin.
That type of move would make the frontrunners to win the NFC. They’re already considered one of the elite teams in that conference.
Also in Watkins’ article is some talk about the negotiations between Marion Barber and the Cowboys on a new contract. Barber is a restricted free agent – he’s not going anywhere – but he would like to be paid like one of the league’s top handful of runners. Dallas has offered a more moderate deal -- $30 million for five years. That contract probably won’t be a problem.
The complete article appears today in The Dallas Morning News.
