David Akers set the single-season record for field goals last week. But he’ll need to score 9 points today if he wants to break the scoring record for kickers.
Gary Anderson currently holds it. He knocked in 164 points when Minnesota went 15-1 in 1998. That was the year, ironically, that ended when Anderson missed his first field goal in the NFC Championship, giving Atlanta the opportunity to come back and win that game in overtime.
2011 has been a good year for kickers all the way. If Stephen Gostkowski and Mason Crosby have solid days today, there could five kickers going for 140 points. In the last 20 years, there have been only 20 kickers going for 140-plus.

So he broke the record with his 10 kicking points, but does his TD pass add 6 points more?
