Eagles’ analyst Mike Quick says Philadelphia is on the verge of completing a trade for Lions’ wide receiver Roy Williams.
Garry Cobb, who maintains an Eagles website – gcobb.com – has the scoop. He says that Quick told him that Philadelphia likely will complete a trade for Williams before the end of the week.
The Eagles definitely are shopping for a playmaking wide receiver. Earlier in the offseason, they tried to obtain Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald. They need to keep pace in the ultra-competitive NFC East, where no team had a losing record last year.
The Lions, meanwhile, probably figure it makes sense to trade Williams now, rather than lose him at the end of the season when he becomes a free agent. The team already has a lot of money tied up in Calvin Johnson.
