Jeremy Shockey likely will be traded to New Orleans before the end of Saturday.
ESPN’s John Clayton says the Saints and Giants are negotiating a deal for the former Pro Bowl tight end, and aren’t far apart on compensation. It could wind up being a second-round pick.
If he winds up in New Orleans, Shockey would be re-united with Sean Payton. That pair worked together in New York in 2002, when Payton was the Giants’ offensive coordinator. Shockey caught a career-high 74 passes that season.
Clayton’s report can be accessed at the ESPN website.
