Around the NFL
Michael Turner and Cedric Benson have been workhorse backs in Atlanta and Cincinnati, respectively, in recent years. According to stories from team websites, all of that figures to change in 2012.
Benson isn't in Cincinnati any longer, of course, but don't expect BenJarvus Green-Ellis to be featured. Geoff Hobson says the "Bell Cow" running back is extinct in Cincinnati, and Green-Ellis will be teamed with Bernard Scott and Brian Leonard. If so, Green-Ellis will no likely be selected way too early in most leagues.
That's also the case in Atlanta, where Turner is getting up there in years and carries. Again, the team website expects the running attack to be by committee. Turner, Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling will all play roles.
Given that likelihood in both places, it makes sense to let somebody else throw early picks at Green-Ellis and Turner, while perhaps using a much later selection on Scott and Rodgers. Or avoiding those backfields entirely.
