Ian's Super League selections

Posted Sep. 05 at 03:23 PM

We’re doing the Fantasy Index Super League deal again. This is the all-comers league that’s free to play, with prizes each week and the grand winner appearing in the Mock Draft in next year’s magazine.

I’ll be playing as well, so you can measure your picks against mine.

Ian’s Week 1 Super League picks

QB: Aaron Rodgers. As Andy pointed out in his preview in the Weekly, top quarterbacks put up surprisingly good numbers against San Francisco last year.

QB: Tom Brady. Brady went over 500 yards on opening day last year.

RB: Arian Foster. Run-rec production makes him top RB prospect on the board.

RB: Darren McFadden. Rare opportunity to start McFadden when he’s healthy.

WR: Victor Cruz. Hakeem Nicks is banged up, leaving the Cruiser as New York’s only real receiving threat.

WR: Calvin Johnson. My secret sources tell me he’s pretty good.

WR: Julio Jones. Potential breakout player in his second year.

TE: Jimmy Graham. Saints are at home, and Washington just lost starting safety for a couple of weeks.

TE: Tony Gonzalez. I can’t believe I’m not starting the Gronk. But it would be blasphemous to not start Gonzalez in his first game back at Arrowhead.

PK: Shayne Graham. Texans will roll over Dolphins.

PK: Garrett Hartley. My research indicates I should start Gostkowski, but in his contest, I don’t like having a kicker and quarterback who work against each other.

If you want to win this contest, you have to enter all 17 weeks. Go to myfantasyleague.com to enter your picks now.

I went with the Mannings. Both games should be shootouts. McCoy and McFadden. McCoy should run rampant. Got to get McFaddens points before he gets hurt. Megatron, Julio, and Jordy Nelson. Go with guys their top QB's love to target. Jimmy Graham and Aaron Hernandez. Graham is beast and Hernandez should benefit from added coverage directed Gronk's way. Bryant and Hanson. These should be the top 2 scoring teams week 1.

My bad. I didn't understand the scoring system. I thought we were counting 3 points each for drops.

lol. That's ok. I thought the Superbowl winning Giants might actually have an O-line that could protect their QB.
