Around the NFL
Marvin Harrison hasn’t yet been arrested or charged, but his NFL future is looking bleak.
The Philadelphia Daily News has a detailed story in today’s editions that suggest evidence is mounting that Harrison was involved in a shooting on Tuesday.
Sources tell the Philadelphia paper that the man who was shot has been involved in multiple arguments with Harrison in the last two weeks, and that the pair got involved in a fistfight shortly before the shooting.
The article also states that sources say Harrison surrendered a Belgian-made pistol to investigators, and tests confirm that five of the six shots fired in this incident came from that gun.
A 32-year-old man – the one who got in the fight with Harrison – was shot in the hand, and a 2-year-old boy was hit in the eye by glass from a window that was hit. Detectives say another man may have been hit as well – someone supposedly called in but hasn’t yet been contacted.
For Harrison, the only good news is that this 32-year-old man, at least so far, has refused to accuse him of a crime. In fact, he initially said the shooting occurred in another part of town. He could be covering for Harrison; he could be hoping to get some money out of Harrison in a settlement – who knows?
“No one has actually come in here and said that he shot them, and we don't have any witnesses," the story quotes an investigator as saying.
But right now, it’s looking less likely that Harrison is going to play for the Colts in 2008.
