Around the NFL
“With the fourth pick of the fifth round, the Vatican City Fightin’ Pontiffs select … quarterback J.T. O’Sullivan.”
That’s what you may hear in August. There’s a third name in the mix in the quarterback race in San Francisco, according to a story in today’s San Francisco Chronicle, and maybe the opening day starter won’t be Shaun Hill or Alex Smith. The 49ers supposedly like what they’re seeing out of O’Sullivan, who’s on his seventh different team in the last seven years.
And Mike Martz is the offensive coordinator in San Francisco now. With him calling the plays, any quarterback is a candidate to average 250-plus passing yards per game.
