Around the NFL
It looks like Shaun Alexander is going to be a Bengal.
He visited with the team earlier this week, and Cincinnati is interested enough that its talking to his agent, Jim Steiner, according to an article in The Cincinnati Enquirer.
Alexander probably would be Cincinnati’s starter, with the Bengals releasing Rudi Johnson. Johnson struggled last year, averaging only 2.9 yards per attempt, and has a big salary.
Other backs on the roster include Kenny Watson, who played well last year but is more of a third-down guy, and Chris Perry and Kenny Irons – high recent draft picks who’ve been plagued by injury. They also got some good play late last year from DeDe Dorsey.
Alexander grew up across the river from Cincinnati, in Kentucky. Having virtually nothing left in the tank, he should make no impact in 2008.
