Maybe the whole Cedric Benson deal is just a case of a guy getting arrest for BWB – Boating While Black.

Since his arrest at a Texas lake last week, multiple witnesses have come forward to say the police were way out of line. And Benson has retained an attorney to fight the charges, maintaining he wasn’t drunk or combative towards police.

Whether Benson can save his NFL career, of course, is another question. He underperformed last year, and the Bears selected a running back – Matt Forte – in the second round. The team also has Adrian Peterson, who catches the ball better than Benson and has more value on special teams.
