Around the NFL
There’s a wild card in Philadelphia’s backfield – Lorenzo Booker.
He, as you may recall, was drafted by the Dolphins last year. Pass-catching back. Hardly played as a rookie. He’s small enough and lean enough that Miami actually at one time moved him to wide receiver.
The Eagles picked him up in a draft-day trade, and they like what they’ve seen. Their running backs catch a lot of passes, and that’s something Booker does well; he caught at least 6 passes in four of his final games last season (and that was as a running back).
Brian Westbrook has had a lot of injuries, so maybe Booker will wind up being a big factor this year. The Eagles also could use their new back to lighten Westbrook’s load.
There’s a feature on the Eagles’ new running back in today’s Philadelphia Inquirer.
