Around the NFL
Recently Mike Shanahan told The Denver Post that this was Travis Henry's last chance with the Broncos. Today his chances ran out. Denver cut Henry on Monday, citing a "lack of commitment" to the team.
Henry's release wasn't totally unexpected, although it's surprising it happened this soon. Selvin Young, Andre Hall, and rookie Ryan Torain all have one less back to compete with for the starting role in Denver, with veteran Michael Pittman also in the mix. Young is No. 1 on the depth chart, although he's not suited for running inside -- he wasn't successful with those carries as a rookie last season. We still anticipate the Broncos using some sort of a committee at the position.
ESPN.com's Bill Williamson, who used to cover the Broncos for the Post, thinks Henry's NFL career might be over. Williamson's story can be read here.
