Around the NFL
Joseph Santoliquito of the Philadelphia Daily News reports that Kevin Jones will hold a workout for NFL teams on Saturday. He’s hoping to latch on with a team before training camps open.
Jones underwent surgery on a damaged ACL in January, but he says he’s fine now. “I feel really good. I’m not in any pain, there’s no discomfort, and I’m able to make my cuts. I feel great. I can’t wait to work out for these teams. I know I can still play in the NFL,” he says.
Jones is one of four high-profile running backs looking for work. Shaun Alexander, Cedric Benson and Travis Henry were all starters on opening day last year. But there aren’t many jobs available. The Bears just released Benson, but Lovie Smith says he likes the running backs he has. The Browns, Lions, Eagles and Cardinals potentially could be interested in a No. 2 running back. The article says New England and Tennessee may be interested in Jones.
