Around the NFL
If Green Bay trades Brett Favre, Tampa Bay is probably the most likely destination. The Packers don’t want to give him to the Vikings or Bears (who are in the same division), and the Bucs look like the next most-likely trading partner. Like the Pack, Tampa Bay runs a West Coast offense and is a defending division champ.
Tampa Bay GM Bruce Allen on Tuesday gave a non-denial denial when asked if the Bucs had talked to Green Bay about the future Hall of Famer.
“There's been so many reports that have come out in the last few weeks,” Allen said in a blog posted at tampabay.com. “The only people that can address that are the Packers and/or the player. I can't keep up with all of them right now.”
Commissioner Roger Goodell, meanwhile, is pressuring the Packers to resolve the Favre issue, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen. And with camps opening around the league, things should be resolved soon – if he’s going to play, he needs to start learning his team’s offense and getting reps with his receivers. Adam Schefter of the NFL Network says the Packers are calling teams to see what they might offer for the standout quarterback.
