LaMont Jordan wasn’t a free agent for long. He signed a contract today with New England.
The Patriots tend to use a committee-type approach at running back, so Jordan likely will see playing time for them, potentially sharing work with Laurence Maroney, Sammy Morris and Kevin Faulk.
He’ll also get to play three games against former teams. The Patriots play the Jets in weeks 2 and 11, and they at Oakland in week 15.
The AP story on the signing and be found by clicking here.

And Maroney free falls down draft boards... For someone who didn't score many TDs to begin with, and didn't get the total yards it would seem he's capable of, now he almost certainly loses even more to Jordan. It wouldn't surprise me if none of the New England backs reach 150 carries this year.

Is it just me or does New England seem to sign an inordinate amount of players during offseasons from teams that appear on their upcoming schedule? I've wondered how much information they can get from these players that is useful in the realms of tendencies, verbage, codes, or any other vulnerability. Doug Flutie, Vinny Testaverde, Sammy Morris, and Wes Welker spring to mind. They didn't really get Marcus Pollard to play tight-end, did they? Maybe they buy into the revenge game theory more than most coaches.
