Around the NFL
Seattle’s injury problems at wide receiver continue to grow.
Deion Branch (knee) won’t be ready for opening day. He should return in mid-to-late September. And now the Seahawks have lost their leading receiver from last year. Bobby Engram, who caught 94 passes last year, has a cracked shoulder and will be out from 6 to 8 weeks.
Now, the Seahawks clearly are going to need a young receiver to step up for at least the first few weeks of the season. Jordan Kent, Courtney Taylor and Ben Obomanu are the guys who look the most likely to be starters on opening day (Nate Burleson, assuming he stays healthy, will be one of the team’s starting receivers).
