Steven Jackson ending holdout

Posted Aug. 20 at 08:49 AM

Steven Jackson has agreed to end his holdout, reports Adam Schefter of the NFL Network.

Jackson hasn’t yet agreed to a new contract or a contract extension, but his agent and Rams officials are negotiating, and presumably will work out some kind of a deal. If they can’t make some kind of agreement, in theory, it’s still possible that Jackson could walk out. Possible, but unlikely.

"This is certainly a step in the right direction," Scott Linehan said. "We're hoping we can get this thing squared away real quickly."

Jackson has missed all of camp and the first two games while trying to get a new contract. But ending his deal, he’ll still have over two weeks to prepare for the team’s season opener.
