Willie Parker says he’s ready to return, in a story posted in today’s Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. But Parker still looks more likely to play a part-time role in Monday’s game at Washington.
"I'm smiling, but I'm a little frustrated," says the Steeler running back. "I like where we're going right now, but I'll still assess each day and take it day by day and know where we are."
Earlier in the week, offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said that Parker likely would be limited to 50 plays in this game. And he reiterated on Friday that he has a lot of confidence in backup Mewelde Moore.
"Between the tackles, they each have a very similar ability to jump cut, set a guy up and burst through the hole," said Arians in this article. "Mewelde doesn't quite have Willie's giddy-up-and-go, when there's a crack, to hit it and take it the distance. But both have great vision. I like guys who can run between the tight ends."
Sounds to me like Parker is going to play on Monday but not get the kind of workload he usually handles.
