Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't the e-mail ratings line up in columns?

First things first: you can view a formatted version on the web. If you're not good with your computer then you should stop now and go look at the web version through our subscriber login (https://store.fantasyindex.com/members/). It's already formatted in columns, and prints easily.

Our rankings line up in columns if you are viewing them in a fixed-width typeface, where a capital "W: is the same width as a lower-case "i."

You may need to do a little formatting -- either in your e-mail program or in a word processor -- to make the columns line up properly. It may take a few minutes the first time you try it, but you'll need less than a minute after you get the hang of it.

First, save your e-mail message. If you are asked how you want the file saved, choose "text only."

Open the saved file in your word processor -- Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or whatever you use. If you're asked to choose a format when opening the file, please choose "text only."

Once the document is open, select all the text with your cursor and change it to a fixed-width font. Courier or NewCourier are the best choices. You can also make the size smaller (say, 9 point) if the columns are wider than a printed page.

When I try to look at my update online, I get thrown back to the login page. Why?

I can't get the downloadable Acrobat file to work. I'm a paying subscriber. What's the deal?

What is my password?

Certain areas of the web site are accessible for FREE to anyone who's bought the current Fantasy Index. These areas include the Internet Extra, projected stats, projected auction dollar values, etc. If we don't have any record of you in our database (because you haven't bought anything online from us before), after you correctly answer a question whose answer you'll find in the current magazine, you will be asked to enter your email address -- that's your user name -- and a password. The password can be whatever you want.

If you have bought something from us before, the default password is your zip code. You can change your password by logging in at https://store.fantasyindex.com/members/ and then clicking the "update customer info" button.

If you've forgotten your password, go to the customer login screen (https://store.fantasyindex.com/members/) and click on the link that says "If you've forgotten your password, click here." We'll ask for your e-mail address and then send your password to that e-mail address.

I requested my password, but it wasn't e-mailed to me.

Please visit our e-mail technical support page and scroll down to the section on common causes of e-mail delivery problems.

I can't find the Internet Extra.

Look at all the links under the "Toolbox" section on the front page of our site (http://www.fantasyindex.com/).

NOTE: The free update is normally posted around the fourth Friday of July.

You can also look at auction values and projected stats (in the same place).

What stores carry Fantasy Index magazines?

We are authorized for distribution into Barnes & Noble, Borders, Waldenbooks, B.Dalton, Crown, Albertsons and Safeway, among others. That doesn't mean you'll necessary find us in those stores. It means only that local wholesalers are allowed to put copies there if they see fit. Copies sell out especially quickly in the book chains. The best place to find Fantasy Football Index is usually an independent newsstand that sells out-of-town newspapers.

If you're having trouble locating a copy, order direct from us, either on the web (https://store.fantasyindex.com) or by calling us at 206-527-4444. We'll ship your copy on the same business day. Fantasy Football Index is sent by Priority Mail (2-3 day business service in the continental U.S.). Fantasy Baseball Index is sent by First Class mail. If you had trouble finding Fantasy Index this year, then be sure to pre-order next year's edition from us. You'll probably have trouble again next year, so why not receive your copy direct from the printer?

Where's my magazine? I ordered a long time ago.

If you suspect delivery has been fouled up, either by us or by the Postal Service, then please let us know by phone (206-527-4444) or by e-mail (staff@fantasyindex.com). We want you to receive your copy as quickly as possible.

If you order our annual draft guide before our press date, then we'll mail to you directly from the printing plant.

FOOTBALL: Order before June 10 for delivery approximately July 1. Orders placed between June 10 and July 10 may be postmarked as late as July 10. Orders after July 10 are shipped same-business-day by first-class mail. Your copy should arrive 2-4 business days after it goes into the U.S. mail.

The football SuperFanatic package does NOT include the Fantasy Football Index draft annual.

BASEBALL: Order before January 10 for delivery by February 1. Orders placed between January 10 and February 10 may be postmarked as late as February 10. Orders placed after February 10 are shipped same-business-day by first class U.S. mail. Your copy should arrive 3-6 business days after it goes into the U.S. mail.

How does Fantasy Index ship orders?

Within the United States, Fantasy Football Index and Fantasy Baseball Index are sent by First-Class mail (delivery in 3-4 business days in the continental U.S.).

Bulk orders may be shipped by United Parcel Service or RPS at no additional charge to the customer. International copies are shipped by ground unless the customer pays for Air Mail.

Additional charges usually apply for international service.

When will you update the Internet Extra, auction values, depth charts, etc.?

After we post free stuff in the preseason, we don't update it.

Auction values -- with all the combinations of roster size, league configuration, etc. -- are especially problematic. But you can generally remove injured players from the list and substitute the next-highest ranking player at that dollar value. There'll be some fluctuation in the value of subs, but it's a pretty good first-blush method.

I ordered on your website, but I received an error message that said my credit card didn't go through. Why?

Whenever you get a credit card error, you will get fastest service if you call us at 206-527-4444. Or, if you are certain your card was declined, then you can try to order again using a different credit card.

These errors can occur for several reasons.

Our system allows you to charge to a credit card only once per day (that way you won't be double-charged if you accidentally double-click the "pay" button.

If you haven't activated your new card, the computer will give us a message to call for a verbal authorization. That particular type of error is easy for us to overlook.

On rare occasions, the phone is busy when our modem dials the credit card company for an authorization.

Sometimes credit card issuers decline to pay charges to our customers' cards. They never tell us why a card is declined.

If you didn't find the answer to your question here, you can return to the Contact Us page and send us an e-mail or give us a call.
