ASK THE EXPERTS appears weekly from training camp to Super Bowl with answers to a new question being posted Thursday morning. How the guest experts responded when we asked them: Which first-half disappointment will turn things around the rest of the way?
MICAH JAMES
As much as I would love to be able to name Trent Richardson here, I don't have the confidence that he turns things around over the second half of the season so I will answer with C.J. Spiller. For a player that coaches were suggesting could see 25+ touches consistently, Spiller has been underutilized and underwhelming thus far in 2013. Some of that is the result of an ankle injury, and the team seems committed to helping him return to 100% health. Once that happens, look for Spiller to deliver huge fantasy numbers over the rest of the season. (Playoff matchups against the Jags and Dolphins don't hurt, either!)

MICHAEL NAZAREK
I'm not sure he will be a star, but the schedule for Titans RB Chris Johnson gets much softer, so the potential for him to live up to being an early round draft pick is there for him for most of the rest of the season.

SAM HENDRICKS
Adrian Peterson. He seemed to be over his hamstring injury Sunday night and had the same bursts we saw in the second half of last season. If the Vikings can get him back to 20+ carries he should be able to rack up some of his usual fantasy points. I am worried about the QB play in MIN and the fact the defense has not been able to get off the field does not help AP either, but I predict a big turnaround for this disappointing first round fantasy pick.

While I am not excited to give this wholly tepid endorsement, I cannot possibly imagine Tom Brady's second half being worse than his first eight games. He has just nine TD passes to six interceptions thrown and has completed an uncharacteristically low 55.7 percent of his throws. Much of that can be blamed on his inexperienced receivers and a drastic change in personnel, in general. I don't expect a huge resurgence, but the return of TE Rob Gronkowski and a healthy (at least for now) wideout Danny Amendola is a good start. Rusher Stevan Ridley is finding his stride out of the backfield, which should help keep defenses honest.

I think we’ll see a couple of backs who’ve struggled pick it up. Ray Rice hasn’t done much so far, but I think the Ravens will get things figured out — I think the blocking will be better, and I think Rice will be healthier. He’s been slowed by a hip injury. I’m also looking for improvement from Chris Johnson. The schedule gets a lot easier for him, including a pair against Jacksonville.

I don't know about fantasy star the rest of the way, but I do think C.J. Spiller returns to being a fantasy star this season and he's an attractive buy-low candidate, especially with so many now off his band-wagon. Spiller's health of course remains a key. This isn't likely the week at home against Kansas City, but Spiller could be a weapon more down the stretch. The Bills have a late bye in Week 12, and then look for Spiller to be an asset over the last five weeks. Fred Jackson is playing well but Jackson is 32 years old and it's reasonable to think he slows down the stretch while the young legs of Spiller gets more work, plus the Bills will get QB E.J. Manuel back certainly be then. Over the last five weeks, Spiller and the Bills get Atlanta at home, at a reeling Tampa, at Jacksonville (Week 15 playoffs), home for the Dolphins (playoffs Week 16) and then at New England. Aside from Tampa, all those defenses rank in the bottom half of the league against the run.

Not sure I can pick the very obvious Trent Richardson & Chris Johnson. Not sure if they can continue to be as pedestrian as they've been and then produce as originally projected for 2nd half. Indy's line is suspect and Tennessee is underwhelming overall on offense. WR Hakeem Nicks is a candidate if the G-men continue their emergence from the scrap heap. They're playing in a very winnable division and are actually not dead yet, but they will need Nicks to help out and he's been so iffy. Gronk at TE is my No. 2 pick to return to prominence. So let's turn to QB and predict instead that it will be a tie at No. 1 as I can see both Brady & Flacco rounding into form in the 2nd half of the season, as both guys see their main receivers return from injury and both their team's defenses continue to play well.

JAKE CIELY
Easily one of the most disappointing players this season, C.J. Spiller is a terrific buy low and bet to provide star value in the second half. The Bills finally made the smart move by giving Spiller a week off to heal up properly, as the nagging injuries more than ruined his first seven games. A healthy Spiller can reach double-digit fantasy points even in weeks where he doesn't receive double-digit touches. With a favorable playoff schedule, Spiller could propel teams to fantasy championships for a slim fraction of his draft cost.

DAVID DOREY
Not sure there is any one player who will zoom from dud to stud but have to think Larry Fitzgerald qualifies with an easier schedule and a hamstring problem that is nearly gone now. I want to say Trent Richardson or C.J. Spiller but I have respect how their situations and outlooks are just different now.

People who have been burned might not want to believe, but I think Chris Johnson will be big the rest of the way. The Rams (I'm not buying their run defense against a moronic Seattle gameplan), the Colts and Jaguars twice -- including Week 16. Johnson has a lot of good matchups coming up, and he should be busy the rest of the way.
