Vick's career not over yet

The excellent play of Nick Foles quickly rendered Michael Vick an afterthought in Philadelphia, but it seems the NFL just can't quit him anyway. Once the Eagles release him he should have plenty of suitors, and it won't even be surprising if he ends up starting somewhere.

NFL.com's Ian Rapaport believes the Jets will be one suitor, perhaps in part because offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg has worked with Vick in the past. Geno Smith had his moments last year, but he hardly played well enough to ensure he should enter 2014 as the unquestioned starter.

Plenty of other teams are on the lookout for a starting quarterback too, or at the very least will be opening things up to competition. The Raiders, the Vikings, the Jaguars, even the Bucs -- where the team has been measured in its endorsement of Mike Glennon -- are all possibilities. Houston is another team that could quickly surge back into contention with a quarterback upgrade.

Vick didn't play well enough in his most recent starts in Philadelphia to suggest he'll be a certain starter anywhere, and some of the quarterback-needy teams will be bringing in a rookie (and might not want the distraction of a veteran like Vick). The Jets, for that matter, are another team which might be wise to avoid the potential distraction.

But if Vick is out there in your dynasty league and you need a quarterback, it might make sense to try to acquire him cheaply. He might well be in a starting lineup in Week 1 of the 2014 season.
