Sammy Watkins: "rare" talent

It hasn't taken long for Sammy Watkins to make an impression for the Buffalo Bills. It's just OTAs, but he's been one of the team's clear standouts so far.

A story at the team website discusses the top performers at OTAs. "Making plays has come easy" to Watkins in his early practices. "His acceleration after the catch is rare, very rare," writes the reporter.

This isn't terribly surprising, but it's encouraging to those with upcoming rookie drafts, or considering taking Watkins in redraft leagues. It can be tough for first-year receivers to make an impact, but you never know.

Also drawing accolades in the linked article is C.J. Spiller. "The offensive coaches seem eager to expand the ways in which he’ll be used on the field this fall." That said, a year ago at this time the Bills were talking about giving Spiller the ball until he threw up, and that never materialized, so some offseason talk needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Bottom line, the Bills have a couple of dynamic talents on the offensive side of the ball. Should be interesting to watch both players in the preseason.
