Some fantasy leagues use more of a performance-driven scoring system for kickers. Rather than getting simple NFL points (3 for field goals, 1 for extra points), guys also get a point for every 10 yards beyond the 30. That is, a 35-yard field goal is worth 3.5 points, and a 52-yard field goal is worth 5.2 points.
Sounds good in theory, and it’s fine. But it’s not something that should be heavily influencing how you should rank the players at that position.
Looking at last year’s numbers, almost all of the kickers show up within a spot or two of the same position in both scoring system.
