Anthony Lynn, the former San Francisco running back who is now the running backs coach with the New York Jets, says he considers Chris Ivory to be the best power runner in the NFL. Ivory, Lynn says, definitely will be New York’s goal-line runner.
That might sound crazy (with the Jets having signed Chris Johnson) but Ivory does run tough.
In fact, when the Jets needed 1 yard last year to either score or keep a drive alive on third or fourth down, Ivory was 10 of 12 running the ball.
Twenty nine other running backs had at least 10 of those carries, and they collectively averaged only 66 percent.
