When you put together a contest like the Fantasy Index Open you learn that it’s tough to get everyone to agree on anything. Even a guy like Jimmy Graham.
Graham, it would seem, is the obvious choice to be the No. 1 tight end. Julius Thomas isn’t as proven, and Rob Gronkowski comes with the injury issues. Yet, 18 of the 166 guessers – over 10 percent – did not rank Graham No. 1.
Two pickers even dropped Graham down to 4th and 5th. What the?
Not a lot of difference between Vernon Davis and Jordan Cameron, who round out the top 5.
We see Kyle Rudolph as a breakout kind of guy, but he’s down in 8th, behind Greg Olsen and Jason Witten.
Two tight ends that we are cooler on round out the top 10: Dennis Pitta and Jordan Reed.
Five different Green Bay tight ends received votes. Richard Rodgers received three write-in votes. Brandon Bostick and Colt Lyerla each got a write-in vote. And Andrew Quarless and Jermichael Finley (who’s technically a free agent) each got enough votes to rank 24th and 27th.
