Week 2 Super League

The Super League is back. It's a free, simple game that we offer as a thank-you for our subscribers.

Week 1 was not the best for me. I nailed it with Peyton Manning (right, difficult) and Julius Thomas, but curiously decided against Calvin Johnson, and both of my running backs flopped. I almost fell asleep trying to find my place in the overall rankings; let's just say I'm in the bottom half.

But it's early, so I plan to make some hay in Week 2. By make some hay I mean do well, for you younger readers. I'm not going to actually make any hay. Whoo, late night last night!

The rules are simple. Pick 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 2 TEs, and 2 PKs each week. Highest point total from that starting lineup wins the week.

Let's get to it.

Quarterbacks: Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers. I will start Manning every week, and wonder why I didn't draft him onto any of my teams. I will start Rodgers at home against a banged-up Jets secondary, and the fact that it's impossible to run on the Jets makes Rodgers look even better.

Running Backs: Adrian Peterson and Arian Foster. Peterson will bounce back after a quiet Week 1. Foster is the best bet for production in any given week for Houston, and they're facing a lesser Raiders defense.

Wide Receivers: Calvin Johnson, A.J. Green and Reggie Wayne. Johnson and Green are awesome, of course. Wayne was a go-to guy for Indy last week and they'll be throwing an awful lot. I considered getting cute with a big-play wideout against a soft defense, like Justin Hunter versus Dallas, but better to save that for a salary cap league.

Tight Ends: Jimmy Graham and Julius Thomas. I tried to find somebody else besides Thomas, since I think Peyton Manning will spread things around this week, but I really can't see the wisdom in it.

Kickers: I nailed this kicker spot last week, for all the good it did me. I'll go with Mike Nugent against Atlanta and Ryan Succop against Dallas -- home teams facing bad defenses. If I switch off Succop, which is possible, it will probably be for Mason Crosby or Dan Carpenter. But they're kickers and I don't really want to think too long about it.

Good luck to all of you.
