Adrian Peterson

TV station reports Peterson has been indicted

Adrian Peterson's playing status is in jeopardy. A Houston television station is reporting that he's been charged with reckless or negligent injury to a child.

A short story has been posted by AOL.com.

This is an emerging story. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com says a source tells him the arrest "stems from the disciplining of a son with a switch." A switch would be a stick or branch.

If Peterson misses any games, the Vikings will likely go with Matt Asiata at tailback. They've also got rookie Jerick McKinnon, but Asiata has been operating ahead of McKinnon all summer.

Peterson has retained attorney Rusty Harden, who was made famous for representing Roger Clemens in a perjury trial.

A year ago, Peterson's 2-year-old son (with a different mother) died in South Dakota in a possible domestic violence incident. This is a completely separate incident. The boyfriend of that woman has been charged with murder, but that case isn't resolved.
