Pretty good week for me last week, as I got my lineup in before the Sunday games and everything. My 164 points snuck me into the top 65; all I needed to do was go with Stephen Gostkowski at kicker. Oh, well you can't have everything.
It's a new week, and I think I'm going to continue to climb the rankings. I always think that, of course, and sometimes I'm wrong. Anyway, I'm feeling good about the lineup I've submitted below.
The rules are simple. Pick 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 2 TEs, and 2 PKs each week. Highest point total from that starting lineup wins the week.
You can sign up to play at http://football.myfantasyleague.com/2014/FantasyIndex. It will be impossible to win the overall at this point, but there are weekly prizes, too.
Quarterbacks: Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck. With no salary cap at play, you almost have to use Manning every week. He'll keep things going against a soft Jets pass defense. Andrew Luck plays Thursday in a showcase game against Houston. No reason to think he won't also be great. When I fail to get my lineup in by kickoff, as I always do, I'll probably go with Aaron Rodgers in Miami.
Running Backs: Still mulling this one. Matt Forte in Atlanta is likely, he should be very good in this game. I'm considering Branden Oliver against Oakland, and starting him in the leagues I was shrewd enough to have him before now. Arian Foster, Andre Ellington and Frank Gore are in the mix.
Wide Receivers: Demaryius Thomas has to be in the lineup. Percy Harvin -- I think Seattle will make an extra effort to make up the injustices done him last week. And Julio Jones, because he's just awesome right now.
Tight Ends: No Jimmy Graham this week, which makes things difficult. Julius Thomas will be in my lineup, for sure. And I think Rob Gronkowski, who's had some big games against Buffalo, will have to be in there as well.
Kickers: Steven Hauschka and Chandler Catanzaro are probably the guys I'll go with, home against soft Dallas and Washington defenses.
Good luck to all of you.
