I finished in the top 10 last week. I'm telling you because I tell everyone, and I realize of course that no one cares. No one likes to hear you complain if your fantasy team is doing poorly or brag if it's doing well, but what the hey. Now things are getting real, and I want to sneak into the top 100 overall.
The rules are simple. Pick 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 2 TEs, and 2 PKs each week. Highest point total from that starting lineup wins the week.
You can sign up to play at http://football.myfantasyleague.com/2014/FantasyIndex. It will be impossible to win the overall at this point, but there are weekly prizes, too.
Quarterbacks: Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning. I also will consider Andrew Luck. Rodgers is home against a toothless Panthers defense. Manning is home against a hurting 49ers defense.
Running Backs: Arian Foster and DeMarco Murray. Foster is at Pittsburgh in the Monday game. (I know, back to back weeks of primetime games for the Texans, it's almost like they didn't go 2-14 a year ago.) He is their offense. Murray hosts the Giants, though I will consider benching him for the awesome Matt Forte. Both guys are great and the matchups are fine.
Wide Receivers: Jordy Nelson because he is terrific this year, and I don't think Carolina can handle him. Brandon Marshall because he's great and facing the Dolphins, so there might be some extra motivation. And I'm not sure on my third just yet but am looking closely at Larry Fitzgerald versus the Raiders.
Tight Ends: Rob Gronkowski versus the Jets and Julius Thomas facing the 49ers. Nothing too fancy here, I know. If I wanted to stick in a sleeper it would probably be Antonio Gates against Kansas City, but Ladarius Green could also be a factor there.
Kickers: Adam Vinatieri at home against the Bengals, and Dan Bailey at home against the Giants.
Good luck to all of you.
