Put up 160 in this competition last week, which seemed good until I saw that lots of people scored that high, with the winners over 200. It's a challenging week with some staple players on the Patriots and Colts sitting out on their byes. I think I'm going to mix it up a little.
The rules are simple. Pick 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 2 TEs, and 2 PKs each week. Highest point total from that starting lineup wins the week.
You can sign up to play at http://football.myfantasyleague.com/2014/FantasyIndex. Fun weekly prizes, and an overall champion who gets to draft or auction with the experts in next year's preseason magazine.
Quarterbacks: Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning. Well, I'm not mixing it up too much. Rodgers is at home facing the Bears in primetime. Manning faces Oakland coming off a rough loss in New England. No doubt in my mind these will be the top 2 quarterbacks of the week.
Running Backs: Jeremy Hill and DeMarco Murray. Hill should have a featured role against a bad Browns run defense on Thursday night. Murray should get a huge workload with the Cowboys having either a banged-up Romo or Brandon Weeden at quarterback. My dark horse pick is Bobby Rainey, huge against the Falcons a year ago .
Wide Receivers: Antonio Brown, Julio Jones and Jordy Nelson. Brown faces the Jets. Jones faces the Bucs, who he's torn up in the past, and I failed to get my lineup in before the Thursday game earlier this season (when he was tore them up). Nelson against the Bears is an easy choice.
Tight Ends: Julius Thomas and Jimmy Graham. The 49ers have actually done well against Graham the last couple of years, but he's Jimmy Graham and I'm not going to get cute. Thomas against the Raiders should be very good; I thinking they'll focus on the wide receivers and leave Orange Julius some chances.
Kickers: Justin Tucker and Mason Crosby. Home in games the teams should win and score plenty.
Good luck to all of you.
