Ellington's season in doubt

Not too long ago, the Cardinals had the best record in the NFL and seemed to be headed for the NFC's top seed. Now it's fair to wonder if they'll win another game this season.

Carson Palmer (knee) is out for the year, and a report this morning suggests Andre Ellington (hip) may be joining him. Mike Jurecki says the Cardinals may have to shut Ellington down for the season due to the hip pointer and perhaps a hernia injury he suffered against the Falcons last week.

Arizona hosts Kansas City today without Ellington, a winnable game but not a sure thing by any means. Then they travel to St. Louis, host Seattle, and play at San Francisco. A few weeks back that Week 17 matchup seemed likely to decide at least one playoff spot. Now it's possible both teams will be eliminated from the division chase and maybe battling for a wildcard spot at best -- perhaps not even that.

Given Ellington's uncertain status, both Marion Grice and Stepfan Taylor should be owned in all fantasy leagues. Taylor will start today with Grice getting some work, and the more effective back could find himself featured in the final three games.
