All McCown in Cleveland

Reports not promising on Manziel

Johnny Manziel checked himself into rehab in the offseason, trying to get his off-field life in a better place. That's a step in the right direction for his future, personal and in the NFL. That NFL future, though, appears to still be a long way from promising.

According to Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com, Manziel has been "a fish out of water," in the team's new offense. The team is calling for a game-manager type quarterback, with the ground game setting the tempo, and that's pretty much the opposite of Manziel. His improvisational abilities are what got him drafted in the first place.

"Manziel didn’t become Johnny Football by handing off or flipping the ball 5 yards to a back in the flat," writes Grossi. In his eyes, the team is essentially moving on from Manziel. It will take an injury to Josh McCown for Manziel to play, and even then the offense is looking for different things than what Manziel brings to the table.

It's all looking like if Manziel has an NFL future, it won't be in this offense, on this team, or at least with this coaching staff. Maybe somewhere else in the future.

If you're holding him in a dynasty league, might be time to trade him to someone who thinks he'll beat out McCown.
