It's only June, and plenty of players are and will be sidelined early in OTAs with nagging injuries and minor strains. Still, it's hard to just dismiss the unsurprising nature of who is banged up early on in Dallas.
Joseph Randle is getting the first-team reps at Cowboys camp, and it's possible he would have been in line for those regardless. But Darren McFadden has a hamstring strain, and Ryan Williams has a sore knee, so those guys are on the sidelines.
No big deal, right? Maybe not. But there's also nothing particularly shocking about McFadden and Williams being injured. If you take a shot on McFadden, and then find out he's sidelined due to some kind of injury, you're not going to be surprised.
Randle, clearly, has some confidence in himself. He raised eyebrows recently by suggesting that DeMarco Murray, great as he was last year, could have been a lot better. "He left a lot of meat on the bone," said Randle of Murray.
Whatever he needs to motivate himself, so be it. In any case, Randle is our favorite to start in Dallas this year. He seems worth counting on a whole lot more than anyone else the team can put out there.
