My basic problem in this Super League is there's always one lineup spot I don't give enough attention. Last week, the Week of the Tight End, I foolishly paired Rob Gronkowski with Owen Daniels. I could have thrown a dart at the starting tight ends last week and come up with a better start than Daniels.
But I had the Ryan-Julio tandem, so I finished in the top 30-40 percent. And I'm going back to that well again, among the other lineup choices.
Details were laid out here , so if you missed that column, check it out, and then come on back here.
The contest is totally free, and it's simple. Each week you pick the best 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 2 TEs and 2 PKs (scoring system: 1 point for 10 run/rec or 20 passing yards, 6 points for run/rec TDs, 4 points for passing TDs, straight NFL points for kickers). You will be playing alongside Fantasy Index writers and subscribers, and there will be weekly prizes for the reader whose team posts the best score. Here's my Week 2 lineup.
Quarterbacks: Matt Ryan and Drew Brees. Ryan faces the Giants. I don't know about you, but I do not need daily updates on Jason Pierre-Paul's hand. He had an unfortunate accident and got messed up pretty good. I feel bad about it and hope he can return. But regular articles on just how many fingers he's holding up are unnecessary. Brees is going to go through the Bucs like a hot knife through butter.
Running Backs: Marshawn Lynch and DeMarco Murray. Lynch has lit up the Packers in the past. Murray faces his former team. Mark Ingram is also worth considering, against the Bucs.
Wide Receivers: Julio Jones, Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham Jr. burned me last week, but I'm giving him another chance. Jones is a monster, no regrets about drafting him No. 3 overall in PPR this year. Brown faces San Francisco's secondary and I'm not giving them too much credit for what they did to the Vikings.
Tight ends: Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham. Gronkowski is obvious, but he also has a ridiculous history against the Bills. The only game in his career he hasn't scored at least one TD against them, he had one erased by a penalty. Money in the bank. Graham is in Green Bay in primetime and I think he'll have a solid game.
Kickers: Mason Crosby and Josh Brown.Gotta say, it's getting tough to even name the kickers anymore. Teams drop the likes of Nick Novak without so much as a backward glance. I like kickers at home in potential high-scoring games that they either may or should win.
No defenses in this league, but if there were I would absolutely be starting the Dolphins against Blake Bortles and either the Rams against Kirk Cousins or the Titans against whatever terrible quarterback the Browns shovel out there.
Good luck to the rest of you.
