Chargers tight end Antonio Gates faces the Raiders this week, and it's a choice matchup for any tight end. Oakland has allowed three times as many touchdowns to tight ends this season (6) as wide receivers (2).
What's odd is that Gates himself, though he used to have big games against them earlier in his career, has underachieved against the Raiders the last few years. Maybe they're familiar with his game or something.
Since 2011, when he last went over 100 yards in a game against this opponent, he's scored just twice in the last seven meetings, and managed even 50 receiving yards just twice.
Favorable matchup, but maybe not quite as excellent a situation for him as you might expect.
