Cameron Wake went down with an Achilles injury in last night's game against the Patriots. It's a terrible blow to a Miami pass rush that had struggled all year, although it was starting to get better. The Dolphins had only one sack in their first four games, but 12 in their most recent three contests.
Without Wake, that little bump in production will probably go away. For the season, Miami was one of the biggest decliners in sacks from the previous season, on pace to reach just 76% of last year's total. They probably won't even manage that with Wake done for 2015.
Biggest improvement over last year? The Bengals, who already have almost as many sacks through six games (17) as they had all of last season (20). They're on pace for 45, which would be a 227% increase over last year's total.
Other teams improving on last year, all with some of the league's best pass rushes: Denver, St. Louis, Green Bay and New England. Other big decliners like Miami: Giants, Bills, Colts, Jets and Eagles.
The full breakdown is below.
