A decent week last week, but I slipped some, from 11th overall to 14th. It was clearly the tight ends that let me down, as the obviously wildly overrated Rob Gronkowski and Heath Miller against Oakland did very little. On the bright side for this week, the Falcons are on a bye, so I don't have to erroneously start any of those players.
Details were laid out here , so if you missed that column, check it out, and then come on back here.
The contest is totally free, and it's simple. Each week you pick the best 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 2 TEs and 2 PKs (scoring system: 1 point for 10 run/rec or 20 passing yards, 6 points for run/rec TDs, 4 points for passing TDs, straight NFL points for kickers). You will be playing alongside Fantasy Index writers and subscribers, and there will be weekly prizes for the reader whose team posts the best score. Here's my Week 10 lineup.
Quarterbacks: Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. I know full well that the Giants have done a nice job against Brady in the past, but c'mon. They don't have a pass rush and Brady is playing great. As for Rodgers, who took his frustrations out on a tablet last week, he's home against the Lions and he is going to light them up.
Running Backs: Mark Ingram and Todd Gurley. Ingram faces a Washington defense that has been hopelessly bad against opposing running backs over the past month. Gurley is the best young running back to come into the league in years, and he should roll onward.
Wide Receivers: Randall Cobb, A.J. Green and DeSean Jackson. Going a little bit off the beaten path this week, I think. Love the Packers offense against the Lions. Green on Monday Night Football against a bad Texans defense seems promising. And Washington faces the Saints, who can't cover anyone at any time. If I get nervous I can plug in Allen Robinson against the Ravens lousy secondary; very possible.
Tight ends: Rob Gronkowski and Jordan Reed. Gronk owes me and will bounce back. Reed faces a Saints defense that was laughably oblivious to Titans tight ends loping downfield against them last week.
Kickers: Stephen Gostkowski and Mason Crosby. Packers at home against Lions, Gostkowski the league's most prolific kicker these days.
If this game required defenses, Carolina against Marcus Mariota and either the Packers (Lions) or Broncos (Kansas City) would be the ones. Rams also good in several key areas.
Good luck to the rest of you.
