There’s a really nice article at by Tyler Dunne at The Buffalo News website, addressing how the dominoes might fall in light of this LeSean McCoy investigation. McCoy was involved in some kind of nightclub brawl that likely will result in an arrest and suspension.
The Bills, Dunne writes, potentially could release McCoy. After all, they have Karlos Williams waiting in the wings. He was great last year. And Mike Gillislee was shockingly good in limited action late in the year, busting a bunch of long runs.
If McCoy is suspended, that could help trigger a really lousy year. McCoy, Dunne reasons, is a finesse runner whose game relies on timing, quickness and conditioning. That style of back, he argues, could be more adversely affected by missing games. Interesting theory, and Dunne points out that McCoy is about the same age that Shaun Alexander was when Alexander quickly declined from being an elite back to a massive liability.
Dunne also points out that the Bills’ schedule is much, much harder against the run this year. It’s worth a read.
